February 2013 – January 2014 (1 year) Working closely with design and development groups on the interaction design and implementation of the Eikon Platform and PageExpress publication system.

Acting as a consultant to the design team on numerous projects, including Equity Screener, Excel integration, Messenger, Search and Autosuggest.

2008 – 2013 (5 years) Leading the framework design for Thomson Reuters Eikon. Working with a group of 15 interaction and visual designers; interfacing with development and product management all over the world.

Led the redesign of various elements of Eikon including a significant update to the application’s branding.
Worked with a new segment to incorporate features for Investment Management clients.

Lead Designer, User Experience Group

2006 – 2008 (2 years) Interface design and usability for financial information software, mainly focusing at an interface architecture level. Strategic design, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing of prototypes and live versions.

Thomson Reuters Eikon:
Developed concept to transform the user experience of Thomson Reuters products by creating a common interface framework with simple, consistent navigation.
Solution addressed multiple products with both thin-client and thick-client versions; highly complex data sets; and significant legacy issues.
Helped to organise and run over 100 user tests to resolve issues and make iterative improvements.

Usability Manager

Reuters Group PLC

December 2002 – 2006 (4 years) Played the leading role in the design and testing of a new multi-product search capability. My role included user interface design, user testing, specification and aspects of the index design.
Created the static rank rules for the initial release and contributed to the redesign of the ranking mechanisms and algorithms.
The search capability was first used in the release of 3000 Xtra v5.0 and led to a 40% reduction in data-related support calls.

Usability Consultant

Serco Usability Services

September 2000 – November 2002 (2 years 3 months) Usability testing, field studies and expert reviews of online publications, financial services and recruitment websites; ISPs; shopping and health information services on interactive TV; mobile phone services and a financial markets information system.

I was also heavily involved in the development and maintenance of Serco Usability Services’ in-house usability laboratories.
